Unit Overview :
Join our 24-bed Neurosurgical Unit , where you will provide care for a diverse patient population including :
Post-operative craniotomies for bleed evacuation, AVMs, and tumor resections.Cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine surgeries.Patients with hemorrhagic and ischemic strokes as part of our Comprehensive Stroke Program .A high volume of cervical and spinal surgery patients, as well as medical overflow cases.As part of the Aurora Neuroscience Innovation Institute (ANII) , our unit offers you the opportunity to work with the latest neurosurgical techniques in cutting-edge care.

Utilize the nursing process to assess patients, plan interventions, implement care, and evaluate effectiveness.Recognize significant changes in patient conditions and take appropriate actions.Implement strategies to enhance patient safety and reduce risks.Coordinate discharge planning through an interdisciplinary approach.Evaluate patient and unit outcomes, taking action as needed.Demonstrate effective communication and promote collaboration among team members.Foster a culture of safety and report safety events promptly.Engage in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care experiences.Pursue personal professional development and mentoring opportunities.Ensure care is tailored to the age-specific needs of patients.Licensure and Certification Required :
Registered Nurse license issued by the state of practice.Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification from the American Heart Association.Education Requirements :
Completion of an accredited or approved nursing program.Experience Needed :
Typically requires 1 year of clinical nursing experience.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required :
