Job Duties :

The Oncology GI / GU Clinical Nurse Navigator is a patient educator, care coordinator, system navigator, and patient advocate with the mission to improve the care experience for GI (colon / rectal CA patients) and GU (bladder / prostate CA patients) at Baptist Health Floyd. The Oncology GI / GU Clinical Nurse Navigator works collaboratively with the patient and their support system, referring physicians, radiologists, surgeons, radiation oncologists, pathologists, medical oncologists, palliative medicine physicians, cancer registry, outcomes department, clinical research staff, in-patient and outpatient care areas, community education and other healthcare professionals to support the GI / GU patient from prevention and early detection through diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation and survival plan of care.

Qualifications :

Graduate of an approved nursing program with a BSN required.

Current Indiana or compact state RN license required.

Three (3) years of oncology experience required.

Certification in Oncology Nursing (OCN, AOCN, AOCNS, or AOCNP) within one (1) year of employment required.

BLS for Healthcare Provider required.

Master’s degree in nursing preferred.

Experience as a Charge Nurse or Supervisor preferred.
