The Surgical Technician at LA CENTA is a supporting pillar that helps in the success of the Medical Department. Your job as the Surgical Technician is to be responsible for overseeing all aspects pertaining to procedures including assisting PA’s and Physicians during procedures, inventory tracking and staff training.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist Physician and Physician Assistants (PA) with in-office procedures within scopy of competency
- Assemble and ensure all equipment / supplies / instruments are appropriate, available, calibrated, and adjusted, in working order, sterilized per protocol and organized for upcoming procedures
- Performs scrub role (e.g., anticipates surgeon's needs, pass instruments, cut sutures, hold retractors, obtain / process tissue samples) according to standard.
- Coordinate patient care as directed by Physicians and Physician Assistants
- Manage the day-to day inventory of all medical equipment and supplies
- Ensure exam and treatment rooms are stocked with necessary supplies
- Ensure that instruments are being sterilized by Medical Assistants before and after each patient visit and procedures
- Provide training to Medical Assistants with regard to procedures
- Coordinate staff schedules with the Medical Assistant Manager to meet clinical and procedure needs
- Monitor medical assistant’s with regard to procedures for performance and ensure compliance and achievement of departmental goals
- Ensure patient’s are roomed according to office standards
- Verify patient information by interviewing patients; recording medical history; confirming purpose of visit when necessary
- Process appropriate documents in an organized and accurate fashion
- Secure patient information and maintain patient confidence by completing and safeguarding medical records; and keeping patient information confidential
- Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by establishing and following standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations
- Properly documents and handle any incidents
- Keep equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns and making repair calls when necessary
- Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications
- Serve and protect the ENT practice by adhering to professional standards, policies and procedures, federal, state, and local requirements
- Respect patient confidentiality at all times
- Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications and Experience

HS Diploma / GED RequiredGraduate of an approved surgical technologist or military equivalent program1-2 year or scrubbing or OR experienceEar Nose Throat & Allergy specialty clinic experience preferredMust be bilingual-fluent in both English and SpanishGeneral knowledge of HIPAA and CPT codesMust be able to travel within our various Los Angeles based clinicsExcellent communication skills with patients, physicians, and staffExcellent organizational, interpersonal and decision-making skillsAbility to work in a relatively unsupervised environment with a high degree of accuracyAbility to operate various office equipment necessary to perform job functionsTeam player with a pleasant attitude towards the practice of medicine
