This position provides clerical support for the Dental Center including triaging phone calls, obtaining all necessary demographic and financial information needed for registration and billing, managing daily schedules, scheduling patient appointments, and performing general receptionist duties.

Essential Functions

• Responds quickly and politely to telephone calls, triages incoming calls, takes accurate messages and relays calls as appropriate. Treats patients, families, dentists, visitors and coworkers courteously. Maintains patient confidentiality.
• Registers patients by obtaining and entering all necessary demographic and financial related information needed for registration and billing of all patient visits.
• Monitors daily schedules, which includes, but is not limited to, arriving appointments, filling open appointment time, managing the wait lists, documenting no-shows and rescheduling bumped or cancelled appointments.
• Verifies patient demographic data at each encounter and enters updates into the computer system. Scans insurance cards when applicable. Identifies insurance issues and collaborates with the financial clearance department for insurance verification.
• Maintains clinic flow, monitoring patient location and wait time.
• Maintains a clean, orderly and safe work environment. Enters work orders when needed.
• Schedules patients for clinic visits through the use of the computerized scheduling system and its components. Places patient on a wait list per dentist, parent, or patient request or if scheduled past due date for appointment.
• Prints and collates paperwork in preparation of clinic appointments.
• Receives, prioritizes and directs all incoming communications, such as phone calls, referrals, mail, faxes and the like. Scans patient information into the computer system. Type correspondence if needed and sends fax communications.
• Maintains inventory of office supplies, reorders as needed.
