Sewing Machine Operator

Our client, a nationwide manufacturer of marine engine parts, has an immediate need for an experienced Sewing Machine Operator, to join their winning team in West Palm Beach. Our candidate of choice will sew, join, gather, hem, and reinforce materials using an industrial sewing machine. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES : Capable of designing patterns according to specifications Cut fiberglass fabric according to patterns and specifications Sew, join, hem silicone infused fiberglass material Work with stainless mesh wire, industrial, commercial material Inspect final product for flaws, defects and errors Mount sewing machine attachments and adjust machine guides accordingly Monitor sewing machine operation to spot problems such as defective stitching, thread breaks or machine malfunctions Design patterns for custom jobs Account for quantity of textile materials processed Inspect high temperature covers for flaws on material, defects and for errors Select sewing supplies like fasteners and threads in accordance with job requirements Mount sewing machine attachments like needles, threads, pattern plates or cutting blades and adjust machine guides according to approved specification Assist other departments as necessary, Hardcoat department generally Maintain awareness of and continually practice safe work habits; maintain a safe work environment. Follow proper safety procedures. KEY REQUIREMENTS : High school or equivalent (Preferred but not required) Experience using an industrial sewing machine for at least one year Mechanical dexterity (use of hands and fingers) to efficiently operate sewing machine and materials, is a must Candidates must be able to read a tape measure Attention to detail with quality assurance experience Good communication skills : Spanish speaker is not mandatory, but it is a plus. Work with manufacturing material such as resin, fiberglass, acetone, etc Punctual, reliable and conscientious with strong attention to detail and accuracy Ability to perform repetitive movements. Able to work in a non-climate-controlled environment. The ability to multitask, prioritize and drive projects is a must.
