SUMMARY OF POSITION :

The Comprehensive Perinatal Health Worker will provide support and guidance to expectant mothers on topics of prenatal / postpartum care and infant basics. This position works within the scope of the Comprehensive Perinatal Services Program (CPSP) to provide comprehensive support and care to expectant mothers and assist them to be better prepared for the prenatal and postpartum experience.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS :

• Provides support, guidance and documentation per CPSP protocols to expectant mothers on issues related to expectancy, pregnancy, prenatal lifestyle and postpartum
• Assesses client needs and provides information about community resources
• Assists clients in coping with discomfort and avoiding harmful practices
• Educates clients about labor and delivery, hospitalization, pain control and relaxation techniques
• Assists clients in reviewing traditional practices and adopting modern healthy family goals and preventative principles
• Prepares and distributes materials regarding NEMS' services
• Conducts, educates, and advises the homeless population on health screenings, vaccinations, personal hygiene, proper nutrition and healthy lifestyle options
• Active member of CPSP
• Participates in trainings provided by CPSP or Medi-Cal resources to further education and keep current with industry changes, clinical requirements, communication with local and regional representatives of CPSP.
• Collects data for related reports
• Performs other job duties as required by manager / supervisor
