The Imaging Scheduler provides support to patients, technologists, and physicians by scheduling outpatient imaging procedures and diagnostic exams for multiple imaging modalities. Their work is generally performed independently, requiring judgment and problem-solving skills with limited supervision. Depending on the site location, they work closely with interventional radiologists and Cath lab staff to approve, coordinate, and schedule interventional procedures in a timely manner. They may provide clerical support at a front desk or other location when requested. They communicate effectively and professionally in all areas of scheduling, providing exceptional customer service.

Qualifications
Education :
High School diploma or equivalent required. Associates degree in business or healthcare, or equivalent experience, preferred.
Experience :
One year of experience working with EMR (Electronic Medical Records) or RIS (Radiology Information Systems) preferred. One year of experience working within an imaging department preferred.
Skills :
GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :
Computerized scheduling schedules appointments for numerous rooms and resources required for an exam or procedure using an electronic scheduling system. Determines availability of physicians, support staff, imaging room, and any other required resources for procedures being performed. Notifies applicable departments per protocol.
Independently and accurately performs daily patient / procedure data entry into electronic health record system.
Review electronic and paper FAX orders for minimum required data, processes the order per protocol and attaches them to orders in Epic.
Can work independently or as a team in a professional and respectful manner.
Working knowledge of various federal and state mandates including clinical decision support / meaning full use and no surprises act.
Arrange interpreter services in accordance with Legacy Policy ensuring prompt service and in accordance with applicable federal and state law as well as regulatory organizations.
Understands and complies with HIPAA, Joint Commissions, and State rules and regulations.
May work with the Anesthesia Department to schedule an anesthesiologist when sedation is required for a particular imaging exam or procedure.
May work with short stay unit to arrange nursing coverage when short term admission is required for a particular imaging exam or procedure.
May coordinate with other offices or procedural departments to coordinate for patients who need multiple services in one day.
May function as clerical support depending on the site and needs of the department.
Provides assistance and direction to ordering providers and office staff on missing, incomplete, or inaccurate imaging orders.
Reviews and updates patient registration; including insurance coverage, guarantor assignment and the appointments hospital account.
Maintains basic knowledge pertaining to health insurance coverage, including but not limited to authorization requirements, payor plan selection, and payor types.
Reviews documentation to ensure appropriate use of CPT / Diagnosis coding practices.
Acts as a liaison between providers and patients with the Revenue Cycle Departments.
Problem-solve issues in a professional manner.
Pay Range
USD $21.88 - USD $31.27 / Hr.
