About the Role :
Join us as an Electrical Engineer and play a critical role in advancing water infrastructure projects that directly support communities across California. This is a project-based position with an initial 6–9 month engagement, and because of the ongoing need for electrical expertise, there is a strong likelihood of renewal or long-term continuation for successful performers.
You’ll contribute to the planning, design, and management of electrical and control systems for water facilities, ensuring compliance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) while delivering innovative, safe, and reliable solutions. Key Responsibilities :
Prepare construction drawings and technical specifications for water facility electrical systems.Perform engineering calculations : short circuit current, arc flash studies, voltage drop, and breaker coordination.Specify and procure major electrical equipment and develop bid packages.Manage project scope, budgets, and schedules.Liaise with contractors, consultants, agencies, and internal teams.Provide construction management and field inspections.Contribute to rate case filings, annual capital budgets, and technical reports.Present project details to agencies, districts, and community groups.Work Model and On-Site Requirements :
On-Site in one of the four listed California offices (San Jose, Bakersfield, Chico, or Torrance)Potential hybrid schedule for the right candidateStandard 9 / 80 work schedule (80 hours over 9 workdays, with every other Friday off).Travel to project sites, community meetings, and public presentations may be required.What We Are Looking For :
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent relevant experience.Minimum 2 years’ experience as an electrical engineer.Experience with motor control center design, NEC compliance, and electrical construction practices.Proficiency with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office.Valid California Driver’s License.California EIT certification or PE registration highly desirable.Preferred Attributes :
Experience in water utilities or process industries.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Ability to present technical information effectively in public forums.Familiarity with regulatory compliance in the water industry.Compensation & Benefits :
