Bucknell University is currently accepting applications for highly-motivated, team-players to join our Facilities team as a Custodian. In this role, you will assist with the care and upkeep of the university, and create a welcoming environment for students, faculty, staff and external guests.

Job duties include :

• Performing routine cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, dusting, vacuuming, and disinfecting surfaces in assigned areas including classrooms, offices, restrooms, hallways, and common areas.
• Collecting and disposing of trash, recycling, and other waste materials according to university policies and procedures. Ensuring proper handling and disposal of hazardous materials when encountered.
• Maintaining the cleanliness and appearance of various types of flooring including carpets, tiles, and hardwood surfaces. Performing periodic floor maintenance tasks such as buffing, waxing, and carpet shampooing as needed.
• Assisting with minor maintenance tasks such as changing light bulbs, replacing air filters, and reporting any facility issues or damages to appropriate personnel for timely resolution. Conducting groundskeeping responsibilities, such as mulching, pulling weeds, and picking up trash outside. Assisting during campus moves and events setup and breakdown.
• Monitoring and replenishing cleaning supplies and equipment as necessary. Keeping an inventory of cleaning materials and reporting any shortages or equipment malfunctions to the supervisor. Following proper procedures for handling cleaning chemicals and equipment. Inspecting fire extinguishers and eye wash stations monthly.
• Working collaboratively with other custodial staff members and university personnel to coordinate cleaning schedules, prioritize tasks, and address specific cleaning needs or requests.

Education : High School Diploma or equivalent.

Preferred, but not required : Prior housekeeping or custodial services.

Salary range : 16.00-16.00. The offer rate will be based on a review of the candidate's credentials compared to the qualifications of the position, internal equity, and our overall compensation philosophy. This role is not budgeted for visa sponsorship at this time, all candidates must be authorized to work in the US at the time of submission of the application.
