CNC Programmer - Mastercam Expert, Custom Manufacturing (Brea, CA)

About Our Client

Our client is an established mid-size electric motor manufacturer with multiple California facilities, known for their collaborative, safety-first, and innovation-driven culture. They specialize in 100% custom manufacturing - every motor is unique, serving essential markets including aerospace, marine, nuclear facilities, and elevator systems. No repetitive production work here.

The Role Impact As CNC Programmer, you'll lead the complete transition from manual programming to full CAM implementation across their precision machining operation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Program 3-axis mills and multi-axis lathes with live tooling for custom motor components
  • Create efficient toolpaths for motor shafts, frames, and precision parts with .002" tolerances
  • Develop comprehensive program libraries for part families during CAM software transition
  • Select optimal cutting tools and calculate speeds / feeds for aluminum, steel, and stainless materials
  • Collaborate with experienced machinists to optimize programs for Fanuc-controlled equipment
  • Review and verify G-code output to ensure program accuracy before floor release
  • Support high-mix, low-volume production environment with quick turnaround requirements
  • Maintain detailed documentation for quality control and continuous improvement initiatives

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years CNC programming experience (flexible based on technical knowledge)
  • Advanced Mastercam proficiency - our primary CAM platform
  • Experience programming 3-axis mills and lathes with live tooling
  • Strong G-code reading and verification skills
  • Knowledge of cutting tool selection and speeds / feeds calculation
  • Experience with aluminum, steel, and stainless steel machining
  • Ability to work independently in fast-paced custom manufacturing environment
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Fanuc Macro B programming experience
  • 4-axis and 5-axis (3+2) programming background
  • High-mix, low-volume production experience
  • Previous CAM software transitions or implementations
  • Trade school or technical education background
