Job Summary

This role is crucial for delivering vital respiratory care to patients, ensuring treatments are conducted according to physicians' orders and established protocols. As a member of our team, you will have the opportunity to work independently in various acute and critical care settings, collaborating with healthcare professionals and contributing to patient outcomes for individuals across all age groups.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform respiratory therapy procedures independently, adhering to physician orders and departmental protocols. - 20%
• Collect and analyze blood gas samples, ensuring accurate reporting of results. - 10%
• Initiate, monitor, and manage various types of mechanical ventilation for patients. - 20%
• Manage airway procedures and associated equipment proficiently. - 10%
• Document and charge for all respiratory care services provided, while engaging in patient and family education. - 10%
• Communicate effectively with team members, including providing comprehensive reports and recommendations. - 10%
• Follow infection control practices and ensure proper sanitation of equipment between patients. - 10%
• Utilize and manage resources efficiently, demonstrating stewardship in both supplies and time. - 10%

Minimum Requirements

Must be a graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program or on track to graduate within three months. Licensure as a Respiratory Care Practitioner in South Carolina is required or eligibility for licensure.

Certifications and Skills

Current BLS certification is required. Candidates must maintain NBRC credentials, and those graduating after June 2016 must pass specific exams within the initial months of employment. Previous employees may have certifications as Certified Respiratory Therapists.

NP and PALS certifications are necessary for roles involving neonatal and pediatric care in certain facilities.
