POSITION SUMMARY : The Medical Assistant works with the Physician and other members of the primary or specialty care team by performing a variety of clinical and administrative patient-related duties. The Medical Assistant also works to fulfill a variety of patient needs and ensures smooth patient flow within the department.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :
- Greets patients on the phone and in person
- Places patients in the exam rooms
- Takes vital signs and perform ancillary tests appropriate to skill level
- Assists and sets up for providers during examination, treatment, and procedures
- Keeps accurate patient files
- Applies dressing, bandages, and splints as ordered by provider
- Ensures rooms are stocked with necessary supplies
- Maintains a sanitized and safe working environment
- Maintains HIPAA
- Coordination of services between multiple practices demonstrable by excellent communication skills
- Performs other medical assistant duties as necessary
Requirements : Required :
1+ years medical assistant experienceHigh School Diploma or equivalentCurrent American Heart Association CPR CertificationCertification from an approved medical assistant program or equivalent combination of trainingRequires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work unsupervised or with minimal supervisionAbility to respond appropriately to emergenciesAbility to adapt to advancement and changing technologyAbility to show attention to detail, accuracy and thoroughnessAbility to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with all levels of staffBasic typing skills to input various data into Information systemsExperience in an outpatient practiceAble to coordinate patient services, assist patients with office, medications and procedure authorizations and explain process to patientsAbility to use EMR and perform chart abstraction into EMRStrong computer skills and use of Microsoft officeAbility to prioritize work efficientlyExcellent interpersonal communication skills and writing skillsExcellent organizational and problem-solving skillsMust be able to multi-task and be flexible in changing work assignments at short notice, which includes increasing work hours as needed to cover the practice needsAbility to work in a fast-paced settingMust be able to lift up to 25 pounds at a time.or any combination of academic education and professional training and development along with applied work experience that demonstrates the ability to successfully perform the essential functions of the position.
