Job Description

The Department of Corrections Division of Health & Rehabilitation Services is recruiting for a Long Term Non-Permanent Mental Health Clinician 3 position at the Anchorage Central Office (ACO) located in Anchorage Alaska.

You Will Be Doing :

Under the supervision of the Substance Use Disorder Criminal Justice Planner this position will provide co-occurring disorder treatment including :

• Conducting American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) screenings and assessments through administering a questionnaire completing a thorough chart review obtaining collateral information and clinical observation to make appropriate treatment referrals and recommendations.
• Performing diagnostic screenings risk assessments and mental health evaluations of referred individuals through the review of existing history prior psychological testing clinical observations and direct interviews.
• Developing implementing and maintaining treatment and relapse prevention plans for individuals by identifying problems outlining desired outcomes developing strategies for achieving these outcomes and setting targets for identified objectives
• Assisting with the coordination of and referral to mental health and substance use disorder treatment services at the facility and appropriate community resources.

The Working Environment You Can Expect :

This position will be located at Anchorage Central Office to provide telehealth services from an office setting and at Anchorage Correctional Center to provide in-person services. This position will work closely with a team of probation officers correctional officers mental health clinicians and medical staff.

Doctoral degree OR Masters degree from an accredited college in counseling psychology social work child guidance vocational rehabilitation or a closely related field.

Any combination of education and / or experience that provides the applicant with the knowledge skills and abilities in

Progressively responsible professional experience performing psychotherapeutic casework.

Progressively responsible means indicating growth and / or advancement in complexity difficulty or level of responsibility.

Professional experience means work that is creative analytical evaluative and interpretive; requires a range and depth of specialized knowledge of the professions principles concepts theories and practices; and is performed with the power or right to decide or act according to ones own judgment.

Training and education in this guidance are synonyms for the process of acquiring knowledge and skills through instruction. It includes instruction through formal and informal methods (such as classroom on-line self-study and on-the-job) from accredited and unaccredited sources and long-duration (such as a post-secondary degree) and short-duration (such as a seminar) programs.

Some positions require the incumbent be licensed as a Clinical Social Worker or a Licensed Professional Counselor. This requirement will be addressed in the job posting.

Starting salary may be approved up to Step D - $3621 / 75 if criteria are met.
