Materials Manager

Role and Responsibilities We are seeking an experienced Materials Manager to oversee our supply chain, reporting to the Operations Director of the company.  In this role you will be responsible for planning, procuring, stocking, and distributing materials to meet production needs and ensure operational efficiency.  Specific responsibilities include :

• Developing and implementing materials management strategies based on production requirements and demand.
• Researching and sourcing vendors, negotiating contracts, purchasing materials according to specifications and demand, and managing supplier performance.  Monitoring inventory levels, ensuring accuracy, and optimizing stock to avoid overstock or shortages.  Coordinating and supervising the receiving, warehousing, and distribution of materials and finished products.  Developing and implementing strategies for efficient material flow, cost reduction, and value creation.  Working with internal departments like engineering, production, and sales to align supply needs with production schedules and customer demand.
• Recruiting, supervising, training, and mentoring a team of materials professionals, including buyers and inventory specialists.  Enforcing company policies, safety standards (such as OSHA and 5S), and regulatory requirements within all material handling and storage activities.
