job_description.job_card.job_descriptionThis nursing position requires prior PCU experience, with knowledge of cardiac rhythms and surgical patients. A strong background in chest tube management and epidurals is essential. Candidates are expected to demonstrate a high level of teamwork and time management capabilities due to the rapid turnover of patients. Candidates without PCU experience and knowledge of cardiac rhythms and surgical patients will not be considered for this role. Preferred skills include teamwork ability and efficient time management. The position requires flexibility to work day or night shifts, with a day shift team consisting of 3-4 RNs, 2 PCTs, and 1 Clinical Coordinator, and the night shift team having 3-4 RNs and 1 PCT. The patient ratio is typically 4-5 patients per RN. Common procedures performed in the unit include post cardiac cath, EP studies, device placements, groin management, and care for post-op surgical patients. Critical drips, epidurals, and PCA are also typical tasks. The ideal candidate will be outgoing, team-oriented, and willing to exceed expectations for patient care. Responsibilities may include floating to the ICU for PCU type patients, PCU, and Med-surg units taking up to 5 patients. The dress code requires navy or white scrubs, which can be mixed or matched. There may be a requirement to work every other weekend or up to 4 weekend shifts.
