Product Manager – Safety Equipment & Products

Location : Houston, Texas

Reports to : General Manager

Compensation : $110,000 - $130,000 base salary with eligibility for a discretionary annual performance bonus.

About the Company :

Our client is a well-established manufacturer of high-quality safety equipment used in industrial, laboratory, and commercial environments. They are seeking a technically skilled Product Manager to lead strategy, development, and lifecycle management for their safety equipment product portfolio.

Position Summary :

The Product Manager will be responsible for overseeing the entire lifecycle of the company’s emergency eye wash and shower systems along with our entire safety product offering. This role requires a strong engineering foundation, advanced Excel skills (including VLOOKUP), and excellent communication abilities to support both internal leadership and external customers. The ideal candidate brings a proven track record in product management with a focus on customer service, quoting, product quality, and market alignment.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Product Lifecycle Management :
  • Lead the full lifecycle of the eye wash and emergency shower product line—from development and enhancements to sunsetting—ensuring alignment with safety standards, customer requirements, and business goals.
  • Customer Engagement & Support :
  • Serve as the technical product expert in client meetings, supporting specification reviews, quoting, and post-sale inquiries. Maintain a high standard of customer service and responsiveness.
  • Cost Estimating & Quoting :
  • Generate accurate cost estimates and pricing documentation for both standard and customized solutions. Support the sales team with timely, competitive, and well-documented quotes.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration :
  • Work closely with Engineering, Sales, Customer Service, Operations, and Supply Chain teams to ensure successful execution of product strategies and improvements.
  • Data Analysis & Reporting :
  • Use advanced Excel skills (VLOOKUP, pivot tables, formulas) to analyze product performance, SKU productivity, and profitability. Provide reports and documentation for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Market & Competitive Analysis :
  • Monitor industry trends and regulatory requirements (e.g., ANSI Z358.1) to identify new opportunities and maintain product relevance and compliance.
  • Training & Knowledge Sharing :
  • Conduct product training sessions for internal teams, distributors, and end-users. Develop supporting materials that highlight product features, benefits, and applications.
  • New Product Development :
  • Collaborate with Engineering and Sourcing teams to bring new safety products to market, improve existing designs, and identify cost-saving initiatives.
  • Industry Events & Trade Shows :
  • Represent the company at trade shows, customer site visits, and industry events to promote product offerings and build relationships.
  • Sales Support & Tactical Execution :
  • Provide field support for the sales team, develop technical collateral, and contribute to business growth initiatives with a strong understanding of product applications and market segments.

Required Skills & Qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, etc.), Business, or related discipline required)
  • 5+ years of product management experience in manufacturing, safety equipment, or industrial product environment
  • Strong background in customer service, product quality, and cost estimation / quoting
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, including VLOOKUP, pivot tables, and advanced formula use
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal
  • Experience working cross-functionally with engineering, sales, and operations
  • Familiarity with ERP systems and structured product documentation
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and self-motivated
