Summary
THIS IS A CONTINUOUS RECRUITMENT AND EXAMINATION PROCESS.

Under the direction of the Director of Health Services or designee (a Credentialed Registered Nurse), performs a wide variety of nursing and clerical duties in support of the school health office, including specialized health care procedures, first aid, administration of medication, maintenance of health records, preparation of reports, and assistance with health screening.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED
Receives dual supervision from Site Administrator and Director of Health Services

Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following :
Suctioning when needed to clear oral airway or tracheostomy tube, including care, cleaning and replacement of tracheostomy tube, care of suction machine, ventilator, etc.

Minimum Qualifications
Education :
Must possess a high school diploma or its equivalent (GED). Successful completion of an accredited vocational nursing program is required.
Experience :
Six (6) months experience working as a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) is desirable, and pediatric nursing experience highly desirable.
Licenses and Certifications :
Typing Speed Requirement :
30 net words per minute
Typing test will be administered to validate typing speed

Examination
The examination components consist of a qualifying written multiple-choice, performance, and oral exam. Applicants meeting the minimum qualifications will be required to take the exam and are notified via email communication of the scheduled date, time, and location. A valid picture identification is required prior to admittance.
After the exam procedure concludes for this recruitment, an eligibility list will be established to fill future vacancies. When eligibility lists include open and promotional lists of qualified persons through competitive examination, the promotional list will be used first, unless otherwise stated on this bulletin.
Work Schedule :
This position typically works full-time, 8 hours / day, 40 hours / week, and observes an 11-month calendar.
Salary and Benefits :
The salary rate for a new employee is at the first step of the appropriate salary schedule for the position. The probationary period is 130 work days (not counting sick, industrial accident). Upon becoming permanent, a one-step salary advance shall be granted with future annual advances up to the fifth step of the salary schedule.

Holidays and Leaves Seventeen (17) paid holidays that fall within the work year, pursuant to the District's Collective Bargaining Agreement with California Schools Employees Association Chapter 296 (CSEA).
Sick leave shall be granted in the proportion of daily hours worked. Vacation is earned at the prescribed rate as part of compensation, and does not become vested until after completion of the initial probationary period.
Physical Demands
The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following demands : some lifting, carrying, pushing, and / or pulling, stooping, squatting, kneeling, reaching, and twisting at waist; walking, standing and sitting for extended periods; hand and finger dexterity for keyboarding / typing, use of computer mouse and touchpad, and writing instruments; vision and hearing in normal range with or without correction.
Working Environment
This job is generally performed in an Indoor office environment.
Exposures : temperature swings in climate-controlled and / or outdoor environments; various noises from office equipment / machines, medical equipment, employees, students, and the public; fumes / odors, such as disinfectants, sanitizers, cleaners, medications, fragrances; bloodborne pathogens, and other health / medicinal-related odors while providing care for medically fragile and / or injured students; risk of injury and / or illness as well as hazards, such as malfunctioning medical equipment.
