The Consultant - Engineer works with a team to identify and / or support sales and use tax savings opportunities for clients associated with utilities like electricity and natural gas. This includes researching multistate industrial exemptions and tax issues to apply to each process in order to complete detailed calculations in the form of predominant or exempt use utility studies, as required by the varying taxing jurisdictions. The Engineer will use his / her expertise to apply various equipment load requirements and hours of operation to establish correct duty factors resulting in annual estimated consumption for all equipment inventoried so that the calculations presented may be certified.
Duties and Responsibilities :
Education and Experience :
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in electrical or mechanical engineering with at least 2 to 5 years of manufacturing or energy-related tax experience.
Computer Skills :
To perform this job successfully, an individual must have intermediate knowledge of Microsoft® Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Internet navigation and research.
Certificates and Licenses :
Valid driver’s license required.
Supervisory Responsibilities :
This position has limited supervisory responsibilities specific to reviewing tasks performed by assisting administrative personnel.
