We are looking for an experienced Database Administrator to join our team in New Haven, Connecticut. This is a long-term contract position within the life insurance industry, offering the opportunity to work on critical database systems and contribute to the optimization of data management processes. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical expertise and a commitment to ensuring the reliability and performance of database environments.
Responsibilities :
- Manage the full lifecycle of database administration, focusing primarily on DB2 Z / OS and DB2 environments.
- Utilize tools and applications such as DB2, SQL Server, Snowflake, and VI Editor (Linux) to perform database management tasks.
- Develop and maintain stored procedures and scripts in relational database environments.
- Implement performance tuning techniques to optimize database operations and ensure system efficiency.
- Schedule and monitor database processes using Cron scheduling and other relevant tools.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support database requirements and resolve technical challenges.
- Leverage tools like Mainview and other mainframe editors to maintain and monitor database systems.
- Ensure data integrity and security across all platforms, adhering to organizational policies.
- Provide technical expertise in Azure SQL Database, MySQL, and Microsoft SQL for ongoing projects.
- Proven experience with DB2 Z / OS and DB2 database administration.
- Proficiency in Microsoft SQL Server, Azure SQL Database, and MySQL.
- Strong skills in performance tuning and optimization of database systems.
- Ability to develop and manage stored procedures in relational database environments.
- Familiarity with Linux-based tools like VI Editor and Cron scheduling.
- Experience with mainframe database tools such as Mainview.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Effective communication skills to collaborate with technical teams and stakeholders.
