Responsibilities
: An Animal Shelter Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily activities of the shelter, ensuring the welfare of animals and operational efficiency. They supervise staff, coordinate volunteer efforts, and develop training programs. Additionally, they manage budgeting, procurement of supplies, and facility maintenance. The manager ensures compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and implements policies governing animal care and adoption procedures. They also foster community partnerships and organize promotional events while addressing emergencies and ensuring a safe and humane environment for animals and staff. Competencies for Successful Performance of Job Duties Possesses thorough knowledge of laws and regulations regarding animal care and control, including implementation and transport processes for all animal species, animal behavior, and disease prevention measures, including animal restraint and care techniques Possesses leadership and supervisory skills, with the ability to provide detailed instructions, recognize errors, and take corrective action. Communicates effectively both orally and in writing, establishing, and maintaining good relations with the public, local veterinarians, subordinates, and supervisors. Instructs others in animal care and control procedures, using sound judgment in evaluating situations. Skilled in handling animals that may be dangerous or vicious without injury to self, others, or the animal. Make presentations to large and small groups, communicating effectively both orally and in writing. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS : Formal Education and Experience Associate’s degree 5 to 7 years’ experience
