POSITION PURPOSE :
The Driver is responsible for delivering a variety of heavy machinery and equipment serving the construction and industrial industries within a local geographical area. Ability to safely load and unload equipment; deliver to customer locations and job sites in a timely manner. Complies with all Federal and State laws.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES :
Pick up and deliver heavy machinery and equipment to assigned locationsEnsure proper loading and unloading of equipment and ensure stability and proper securement of the load per company and DOT guidelinesInstruct customers on the safe operations of the equipmentPerform pre-delivery and pre-pickup inspections of equipmentRecord deliveries and appropriate paperwork in a timely manner, including mileage logs and fuel receiptsPerform minor repairs and maintenance to equipmentMaintain truck and trailer cleanliness and appearanceComplete daily vehicle inspection reportsMaintain a culture of safety and participates in all safety meetingsMaintain required training and safety certificationsPerform other related duties as assignedBasic Knowledge & Competencies :
Excellent customer service skillsThorough knowledge of equipment & operations that apply to the branchGood verbal and written communication skillsPrevious Experience / Education :
High school diploma or GED equivalent requiredValid Class A CDL required1+ years' experience in forklift or related industry preferred2+ years' experience of commercial driving preferredPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Standing, walking, lifting, twisting and bending on a frequent basisAbility to lift up to 75 poundsAvailability to work 24 / 7 on-call schedule as needed100% local travel to customer sites
