Role Overview :
The Scrum Master & Agile Coach will support an IT division by coaching IT Team Leads and teams on Scrum and Kanban practices, incident management, and backlog management. The role focuses on enabling self-organizing teams, reinforcing Agile principles, and ensuring alignment with IT leadership priorities in a hybrid work environment.
Key Responsibilities :
Facilitate and coach IT Team Leads to effectively run Scrum events including daily stand-ups, sprint planning, reviews, board clean-up, and retrospectives.
Guide IT Team Leads and teams in applying Scrum and Kanban frameworks to manage project and operational backlogs and optimize workflow efficiency.
Train IT Team Leads to manage incidents, identify and remove impediments, and perform dependency analysis for incorporation into team ceremonies.
Promote continuous improvement through retrospectives and ensure actionable changes are documented, scheduled, and followed through.
Reinforce adherence to Scrum for development teams and Kanban for infrastructure / operations, including use of WIP limits and documentation of repeatable tasks.
Foster collaboration between Scrum and Kanban teams to support incremental deployments and overall delivery effectiveness.
Document training content and best practices in a living Working Agreement for ongoing reference by teams and team members.
Required Skills & Experience :
At least 5 years of experience working with Agile teams.
Strong knowledge of Scrum and Kanban methodologies and underlying principles.
Excellent facilitation, coaching, and mentoring skills with ability to document expectations and best practices.
Proven ability to analyze, identify, and resolve team impediments and conflicts.
Experience managing and prioritizing backlogs in alignment with IT leadership priorities.
Strong communication skills to collaborate with team members, technical leads, architects, project managers, security, and stakeholders.
Proficient with Atlassian Jira and Confluence, ServiceNow ITSM and Agile modules, Microsoft Teams, and Office 365.
Agile certifications, with Scrum Master certification required at minimum.
Preferred Skills :
Demonstrated servant leadership mindset focused on enabling self-organizing teams.
Experience creating and maintaining working agreements and process documentation for Agile teams.
Additional Details :
This role is hybrid with 2 3 days onsite at the Atlanta, GA office each week and follows a standard full-time schedule of 8 hours per day, 5 days per week. Local candidates are required, and the engagement is contingent upon customer renewal and funding availability.
