Building Automation Programmer - Tridium & Distech

Location : Houston, TX (Field & Remote Work)

We're seeking an experienced BAS Programmer with deep expertise in Tridium Niagara and Distech Controls. In this role, you'll focus on programming, commissioning, and optimizing BAS devices, both onsite and remotely. You'll bring control sequences to life, integrate systems for peak efficiency, and ensure building environments operate exactly as designed.

You'll be hands-on in the field for startups, troubleshooting, and commissioning, as well as working from a remote setup to fine-tune logic, graphics, and system performance. This role combines technical problem-solving, precise programming, and collaborative work with project teams and clients.

Key Responsibilities

Program, configure, and commission Tridium Niagara and Distech BAS controllers and front-end software.

Create and optimize graphics, dashboards, and trends for user interfaces.

Integrate BAS with third-party systems (BACnet, Modbus, etc.).

Troubleshoot programming logic, device communications, and network integration issues.

Perform remote diagnostics and fine-tuning to ensure system performance meets project specifications.

Conduct onsite startup, functional testing, and commissioning of HVAC and control systems.

Collaborate with engineering teams to translate sequences of operation into effective control programs.

Maintain clear project documentation, backups, and version control of programs.

Support service teams in resolving complex controls issues in the field or remotely.

Ensure all work meets industry standards, project timelines, and customer expectations.

Requirements

Proven experience programming BAS systems with Tridium Niagara and Distech Controls.

Strong understanding of HVAC sequences, control theory, and system integration protocols (BACnet / IP, MSTP, Modbus).

Ability to read and interpret control drawings, wiring diagrams, and sequences of operation.

Proficient in remote access and troubleshooting tools.

Field commissioning experience for new construction or retrofit projects.

Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.

Capable of independent work and time management in both field and remote environments.

Familiarity with other BAS platforms (Alerton, Siemens, JCI, Automated Logic, etc.) is a plus.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary : $90,000 to $120,000 per year, depending on experience, certifications, and a successful interview
