The School of Geography, Development, and Environment (SGDE), in partnership with the Arizona Institute for Resilience (AIR), invites applications for a fiscal (12-month) appointment Career Track (Non-Tenure Eligible) Assistant / Associate Professor of Practice with scholarly, field, and teaching expertise in environmental and community resilience and adaptation. This faculty position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to both academic and professional training in the emerging field of environmental and community resilience. Strong candidates for this position hold a PhD in Geography or closely related field, bring a demonstrated commitment to supporting and engaging students and have strong pedagogical abilities for experiential and applied learning.

Duties & Responsibilities

COURSE DEVELOPMENT AND INSTRUCTION

• Develop and teach one masters-level course in a topic related to resilience, international or community development, and / or climate adaptation specific to the candidate’s expertise.
• Develop and teach one masters-level field course.
• Teach one undergraduate course for Geography majors related to the candidate’s expertise.
• Teach three masters-level courses which prepare students in the Master of Resilience.
• Practice program in collaboratively planning their capstone project, completing capstone projects in small student teams, and in communicating the impact of their capstone project after its completion.
