Database Administrator

At Eugene Water & Electric Board (EWEB), we don't just provide water and electricity we deliver essential services that are vital to the community. We are seeking a skilled Database Administrator to manage and maintain MSSQL and Oracle databases supporting critical utility operations. This is an important position that helps keep EWEB running.

As a Database Administrator at EWEB, you will be responsible for ensuring database performance, security, availability, and scalability across diverse environments. Additional responsibilities include implementing backup and recovery strategies, optimizing queries, and supporting application teams. This role plays a key part in sustaining the integrity of enterprise data systems for a mission-critical public utility.

Key responsibilities include :

  • Design and develop databases including creating data structures and conceptual models to meet business requirements.
  • Organize, analyze, archive, and maintain data and data structures
  • Update and troubleshoot databases and data integrations providing support to developers, application administrators, and vendors as appropriate.
  • Ensure data security, continuity of service for integrations, and maintain documentation for team stability.

What you'll bring :

  • Demonstrated skills in database design and practices, administration, backup and recovery, programming, security, availability, troubleshooting and performance optimization
  • Excellent communication skills and collaborative attitude; Ability to work with and assist a diverse organization with varying technical skills.
  • Familiarity and comfort with documenting processes and implemented solutions with strong attention to detail.
  • A passion for technology, problem solving, and data integrity.

    Minimum qualifications include :

  • Five years of progressively responsible experience in administering database management system software.
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems or closely related field from an accredited college.
