Job Summary :
As an, Occupational Health Registered Nurse, you will be responsible for providing nursing care, health education, and guidance to hospital employees through a comprehensive occupational health program. This includes administering first aid, assisting employees who become ill or are injured at work, managing hospital-wide immunizations and inoculations to prevent communicable diseases, and monitoring employee health to ensure a safe work environment. The Occupational Health RN also participates in accident and illness prevention, ongoing health in-service programs, and other duties as required.
Experience / Qualifications :
- Minimum two (2) years of recent nursing experience as a Registered Nurse
- Preferred experience in employee health, occupational health, or infection prevention is highly desirable.
Education :
ADN Degree required; BSN Degree preferred.Licensures / Certifications :
Must have current and valid California State RN LicenseMust successfully complete and maintain an AHA BLS certificationMust successfully complete and maintain LA City Fire Card certification at the time of hire or within the first 30 days of employmentDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (The following are essential job functions. Employees must be able to perform these functions safely and effectively.) :
Assist in implementing comprehensive employee health programs, including pre-placement health assessments, annual physicals, and required testing for all employees.Support employee immunization programs, ensuring compliance with hospital and public health regulations.Maintain departmental policies, procedures, and quality standards, ensuring compliance with infection control, safety, and environmental regulations.Identify and collaborate with other departments to resolve workplace health and safety issues.Provide first aid and emergency care to employees who become ill or are injured while on duty, coordinating with the emergency department when necessary.Ensure compliance with occupational health standards, employee conduct policies, and confidentiality guidelines.Utilize electronic medical record (EMR) systems and related office equipment to track and manage employee health records, new hire health screenings, and annual updates.Monitor urine drug screen (UDS) results, accessing the Medical Review Officer (MRO) system to track and print critical findings when needed.Provide backup support to Employee Health staff on work-related injury cases, and bloodborne pathogen (BBP) exposure cases, and act as a liaison with third-party administrators (TPA) for workers' compensation cases.Partner with Human Resources to ensure timely and clear communication regarding health screenings for new hire candidates.Actively participate in staff meetings and attend other assigned meetings as required.Perform other related duties as assigned.Skills & Competencies :
Strong knowledge of occupational health practices, workplace safety, and infection prevention.Excellent clinical assessment skills for handling work-related illnesses and injuries.Ability to work independently while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.Strong organizational and communication skills to coordinate with employees, HR, and leadership.Proficiency in computer systems, medical documentation, and health tracking software.Salary Range : $49.08 - $65.44 per hour
