American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist - Pediatric RT with a minimum of 2 years' experience and current RRT certification for a variable shift position.

Job Details

  • Work in a respiratory therapy unit encompassing adult ICUs, cardiac critical care, emergency department, intermediate care, general medical floors, and Level III NICU & PICU if assigned,
  • Variable shifts with primary needs on nights, including 12-hour shifts (0645-1915 for days, 1845-0715 for nights),
  • Weekend rotation is every other weekend,
  • Floating required only to units in which the candidate is trained,
  • Voluntary on-call opportunities available two hours before and after scheduled shifts,
  • Cerner EMR used,

Job Requirements

  • Current Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential required; CRTs and Respiratory Technicians not accepted,
  • Minimum 2 years of respiratory therapist experience required,
  • BLS and ACLS certifications required; BLS and NRP required for pediatric assignments, PALS preferred,
  • Must have active compact or ME state license for consideration (license required if applicable),
  • Experience with critical care airway and ventilator management, ABG puncture / analysis, non-invasive ventilation, and code blue / rapid response,
  • Experience in NICU / PICU and with Oscillator 3100, Sensormatic, and Drager ventilators helpful for pediatric assignments,
  • Minimum 1 year experience in specialty required,

    • Additional Information

  • Role will involve protocol-driven, critical care focused respiratory therapy,
  • Patient diagnoses include COPD, CHF, cystic fibrosis, ARDS, trauma, pneumonia, lung cancer, stroke, ALS, GBS, COVID-19, and RSV,
  • Department support provided by leads, charge RTs, managers, assistant manager, RT educator, and medical director,
  • Orientation includes one general shift and one shift per unit trained (typically four to five shifts total),
  • First-time travelers are accepted for this position,
  • Scrub color or pattern is flexible as long as attire is professional and OR scrub machines are available,
  • Free on-site parking is provided,
  • All candidates must live at least 100 miles south / southwest of the facility, and not have worked permanently at any Northern Light Health Hospital,
  • Flu vaccination is required for all start dates after 9 / 30 / 2024, with medical exemptions reviewed by the facility,
