Salary : $85,000-$105,000 per year

Development Director Overview

The Development Director will lead CHNWs fundraising strategy, focusing on diversifying revenue beyond public grants and fostering a culture of philanthropy. As a new position within the organization, this role represents a strategic investment in expanding CHNWs development capacity. This role manages major donor relationships, oversees grant programs, and drives strategic fundraising initiatives, including campaigns and special events. Working closely with the Executive Director and Affordable Rents for College Students (ARCS) Director, the Development Director will build strong partnerships, develop compelling donor communications, and ensure fundraising operations are efficient, ethical, and aligned with CHNWs mission.

Duties include :

  • Work to qualify, identify, engage, and organically grow a network of deeply committed supporters through successful funding infrastructure.
  • Develop and maintain ongoing relationships with major donors and stakeholders, managing a portfolio of 40-50 donors and prospects, and guide the Executive Director and the ARCS Director with their portfolios.
  • Create case statements and storytelling that aligns with CHNWs work and goals, and encourages and motivates donors.
  • Create and oversee monthly and annual budgets, monitoring revenue and expenditures to ensure the organization is meeting annual fundraising goals.
  • Provide support, mentorship, and motivation to ensure organization ambassadors, including the Executive Director, Director of ARCS, Board, and Fundraising Committee members, have what is needed to be successful in their fundraising efforts.
  • Manage grant writing consultant(s) and other fundraising-related consultantsas needed.
  • Manage CHNWs CRM (currently Salesforce).
  • Establish an annual Development Plan, and lead efforts to successfully reach established goals, including increasing the programming budget.
  • Proactively develop and implement strategies to ensure that fundraising targets are realistically set and met
  • Focus on maintaining existing funding streams with a particular focus on growing successful programs and identifying new / bolstering existing opportunities.

What we are hoping to see from you :

  • 7+ years of relevant work experience in nonprofit organizations.
  • A minimum of 5 years of direct fundraising experience.
  • Bachelors degree in a related field preferred or commensurate experience.
  • Proven ability to develop relationships with individuals and corporations that result in direct philanthropic investment.
  • Experience creating and executing a strategic fundraising plan; demonstrated success in increasing year-over-year revenue.
  • High level of proficiency with MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, Keynote, Outlook, Salesforce database, CRM, and additional software programs / technology needed to perform job functions.
