About The Division

The Comptroller’s Audit Division helps ensure fair and equitable application and administration of the state’s tax laws. It conducts cost-efficient audits, verifies taxpayer refund requests and undertakes special projects involving a wide range of state taxes, fees and other revenue sources, including those authorized by law in the Alcoholic Beverage and Insurance codes.

Monday through Friday, 40 hours a week with occasional evening, weekend hours and holidays. Hours may change based on business need.

Tax Auditor Supervisor :   $9,916.67 - $11,864.41 / month

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

Education : Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s or master’s degree in accounting; a finance bachelor's or master’s degree in business administration with at least 12 hours in accounting courses; or a bachelor’s or master’s degree in any other field with a total of 24 semester hours of accounting.

Experience : Must be a Tax Auditor IV with the Audit Division for a minimum of one year.

Other Requirements : Travel is required; extent depends upon location .

Licenses and Certifications

A valid Texas (or state of residency) driver's license, current proof of automobile insurance and a satisfactory driving record are a condition of employment.

In this role you will :

Completes training requirements.

Prioritizes, plans, and organizes assignments in a manner which optimizes efficiency on advanced tax audits.

  • Plans available time to efficiently complete assigned tasks. Is dependable, meets deadlines and produces high-quality work. Is receptive to constructive feedback and adjusts work behavior based on feedback. Is responsive to inquiries and assignments in a timely manner, regardless of the requestor’s status.
  • Represents the Comptroller’s Office at hearings, meetings, trials, and / or legislative meetings. Serves as back-up supervisor on Settlement Issues / Managed Audits / Sampling / Training / and Audit Processing Issues. Responds to Taxpayers regarding determination requests and other audit processing questions.Performs other duties as assigned.
