POSITION OBJECTIVE :

This is the entry level into the facilities services series. Incumbents perform basic custodial building or grounds maintenance or general laborer work. Duties might include : picking up trash and debris mowing the grass; performing building maintenance such as changing light bulbs; vacuuming; cleaning and maintaining restrooms; and performing general laborer type work such as moving furniture and room set-up. Incumbents may also operate light equipment such as vehicles tractors and mowers.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES : (These duties are a representative sample; position assignments may vary.)

• Performs manual labor activities which includes : emptying trash cans; gathering materials and equipment; placing materials and / or equipment in proper locations; sweeping; setting up furniture and / or equipment; digging; cleaning; moving furnishings; painting; and / or performing other related tasks.
• Assists and responds to internal customer requests for assistance inquiries and / or other related requests; and responds to emergency situations as required to ensure the safety of students and staff.
• Maintains facilities vehicles and / or equipment utilized in daily activities; troubleshoots maintains and performs simple repairs and preventive maintenance to equipment; monitors inventory of supplies.
• Notifies appropriate individuals of required facility and / or equipment repairs.
• Under direction performs routine minor repairs.
• Assists in performing routine grounds maintenance activities including picking up trash sweeping walkways and weeding planter areas.
• Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE : (positions in this class typically require) :

High School Diploma or G.E.D.; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.

Licensing Requirements :

Valid Arizona Drivers License.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS :

Positions in this class typically require : climbing balancing stooping kneeling reaching standing walking pushing pulling lifting finger dexterity grasping feeling talking hearing seeing and repetitive motions.

Heavy Work : Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally and / or up to 50 pounds of force frequently and / or up to 20 pounds of forces constantly to move objects.

Incumbents may be subjected to moving mechanical parts electrical currents vibrations fumes odors dusts gases chemicals oils extreme temperatures inadequate lighting and intense noises.
