The RN Navigator - Breast Center Program will plan, develop, and implement all aspects of the Breast Center Program patient access and navigation. Monitors and interacts with all interdisciplinary components of the program including but not limited to : the patient, medical oncology, infusion therapy, radiation therapy, surgery, plastic surgery, and imaging. Responsible for the measurement of the objectives of the program.

Reports to the Director of Quality Management

Principal Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with patients and interdisciplinary team to meet the needs of the patient and the goals of the program.
  • Serve as liaison to all ancillary departments and hospital departments in relation to the patients in the Breast Center Program.
  • Coordinate all components of the patient experience with interdisciplinary team.
  • Serve as patient advocate in navigating the matrices of the Breast Center Program.
  • Maintain and collate accurate documentation of patient care provided to assure the integration of information for use by the interdisciplinary healthcare team.
  • Assist patients in understanding diagnosis, treatment options and available resources internal and external to the organization.
  • Ongoing evaluation of patient flow and program criteria for effectiveness and offer suggestions for improvement, if needed.
  • Assist the department in obtaining and maintaining specialty certifications, recognitions, and accreditations.
  • Support and participate in health promotion / educational community involvement and research.
  • Comply with the Springfield Clinic incident reporting policy and procedures.
  • Adhere to all OSHA and Springfield Clinic training & accomplishments as required per policy.
  • Provide excellent customer service and adhere to Springfield Clinic's Code of Conduct and Ethics Standards.
  • Perform other job duties as assigned.

Education / Experience

  • BSN preferred.
  • Three-five (3-5) years of clinical experience required, preferably in oncology.
  • Minimum of one year experience in an office setting required.
  • Licenses / Certificates

  • RN license in the State of IL required.
  • Current CPR certification per American Heart Association guidelines.
  • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Highly motivated and self-directed individual that also participates well in the overall program team environment.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated experience with program development / program management and workflow assessment including data collection and presentation.
  • Working Environment

  • This job operates in a professional office environment.
  • Routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
