Description Work Hours : 8 : 30 a.m. - 5 : 00 p.m. Workdays : Monday – Friday (weekends / evenings as needed) Location : 202 W French Pl, San Antonio TX. 78210 Mission : The mission of Catholic Charities is to provide for the needs of our community through selfless service under the sign of love.

Summary : The Family Support Specialist will serve as a compassionate and knowledgeable advocate for pregnant women and fathers or families with children under 36 months, providing them with material assistance, referrals to resources, and educational lessons necessary to promote the health and well-being of both mother and child. This role is critical to the Guadalupe Community Center’s mission to offer a non-judgmental atmosphere of understanding and support to women and families facing pregnancy-related challenges. Guadalupe Community Center is committed to empowering individuals and families by providing compassionate services and access to essential resources. As a program of Catholic Charities, we uphold a standard of care that honors life, respects dignity, and supports the comprehensive needs of pregnant women and new mothers.

Position Responsibilities :

  • Ensure clients meet program eligibility criteria and enter intake details into Charity Tracker and other designated data systems as instructed.
  • Provide material assistance by distributing essential items such as maternity and baby clothing, diapers, formula, food, and baby furniture.
  • Maintain inventory of material goods and ensure organized and equitable distribution.
  • Track services provided in accordance with funder requirements.
  • Become familiar with Agency wrap around services as well as other community agencies to connect clients with appropriate referrals for medical resources, for housing, healthcare, financial assistance, and other needs
  • Provide assistance to in navigating and applying for resources such as SNAP through Texas Health and Human Services.
  • Maintain up-to-date referral lists and build relationships with local service providers.
  • Facilitate or coordinate classes on life skills, pregnancy, childbirth, newborn care, and parenting.
  • Provide other basic needs services and mobilize resources during assigned Family Self-Sufficiency events and outreach.
  • Provide monthly reporting on deliverables / goals to supervisor.
  • You must complete all the required training in a timely manner.
  • Must be sensitive to the service population’s cultural and socioeconomic characteristics.
  • Adhering to safety training and protocols daily and taking precautionary measures to ensure the safety and well-being of self, others.
  • Responsible for protecting the confidentiality of any information or material obtained in the service with the organization to include but not limited to client names and information, services rendered to clients, donors names and gifts, internal and external investigations or results of any investigations, and financial information.
  • Adherence to the Code of Conduct and the Faith and Moral is mandatory.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications :

  • Education High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree in social work, human services, public health, or a related field preferred. Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a non-judgmental, empathetic approach. Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Experience Minimum of 1 years’ experience in non-profit setting with at least 1 year of experience in case management, community resources, or direct client services preferred.
  • License and Credentials Reliable transportation Valid driver license, with clean driving record Valid vehicle insurance Bilingual English and Spanish preferred
  • Minimum Knowledge and Skills :

  • Ability to handle crisis and de-escalate situations with participants, volunteers and staff using a trauma informed perspective.
  • Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to maintain grant compliance and submit compliance reports to Associate Senior Director for .
  • Ability to work closely with volunteers.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Programs and word processing
  • Knowledge of Internet, email, and basic phone and voice messaging
  • Organizational and prioritization skills
  • Ability to maintain high standards of client confidentiality.
  • Must be detail oriented, organized, self-motivated, work well independently and in a team.
  • Must have good written and verbal skills.
