Bridge Engineering Team Lead

Primary Responsibilities

  • Plan and manage all aspects of small to medium single-discipline engineering projects or large, routine projects
  • Foster and develop client relationships for yourself and your staff
  • Independently coordinate work of engineers and balance planning team throughout entire project's development
  • Establish client relations and be involved with marketing, contractual, design and production meetings
  • Track financial aspects of projects and coordinate or adjust work effort with team to ensure that work is completed within parameters of agreed-to schedule
  • Collaborate with peers and team members to create a cohesive practice
  • Perform complex structural planning, analysis and design for all structural aspects of transportation projects to ensure completion of documents on schedule
  • Work on projects that typically include bridge (steel plate girder, prestress concrete, segmental and cable-stayed), box culvert, and interchange design for highway and railway projects
  • Select standard bridge engineering / design procedures, develop structural details using specialized structural design and analysis software, and perform structural load calculations and assist with geometric layout and quantity development
  • Review, assign work and / or check design calculations, estimates, and specifications produced by junior engineers and EITs
  • Mentor younger staff and support continued development
  • Perform Project Manager duties as needed

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Engineering
  • Minimum 7 years of bridge design experience
  • Proven hands-on experience in all aspects of bridge design, preservation / rehab and inspection projects
  • Professional Engineering License (PE)
  • Familiarity with engineering software packages such as : LPile, SAP2000, CSiBridge, CTBridge, MS Project
  • FHWA / NBIS Bridge Inspection Certification
  • Movable Bridge Design Experience
  • Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • A minimum of 7 years experience
  • Professional registration, license or certification may be required based on role
  • Strong communication and listening skills
  • Ability to handle multiple assignments
  • Good leadership and organizational skills
