Chipton-Ross is seeking a Systems Administrator 3 for a contract position in Newport News, VA.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (REQUIRED SKILLS / EXPERIENCE) :
Bachelors Degree and 6 years of experience. Masters Degree and 4 years of experience. 4 years of related exempt experience can be substituted for Bachelors degree. 8 years of non-related exempt experience can be substituted for Bachelors degree. A relevant professional certification can be substituted for a Bachelors Degree.
PPE : Hard Hat, Steel Toes, Hearing and eye protection and flashlight
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES :
Maintains smooth operation of multi-user computer systems, including coordination with network administrators. Interacts with users and evaluates vendor products. Makes recommendations to purchase hardware and software, coordinates installation and provides backup recovery. Develops and monitors policies and standards for allocation related to the use of computing resources. Ancillary duties may include setting up administrator and service accounts, maintaining system documentation, tuning system performance, installing system wide software and allocating mass storage space.
Installation & Configuration :
Installing, configuring, and maintaining operating systems, server hardware, and related software and applications.
System Maintenance :
Monitoring system performance, applying software updates and security patches, and managing user accounts, permissions, and access rights.
Troubleshooting & Support :
Diagnosing and resolving technical issues to ensure the continuous operation of systems, often requiring on-call availability for emergencies.
Security Management :
Implementing and enforcing security best practices, managing firewalls, and developing safeguards to protect systems and data from breaches.
Data Management :
Designing and implementing backup solutions, managing data storage, and developing and executing disaster recovery plans.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (DESIRED SKILLS / EXPERIENCE) :
Experience installing, configuring, securing, troubleshooting, and maintaining Windows, and enterprise Linux systems. Red Hat Enterprise Linux and its variants a plus.
Experience installing, configuring, securing, troubleshooting, and maintaining virtualization solutions. Preference for experience with VMware / vSphere.
Experience configuring, securing, troubleshooting, and maintaining network infrastructure equipment in either Layer 2 or Layer 3 configurations.
Department of Defense DIACAP / RMF accreditation experience a plus.
REQUIRED EDUCATION : Bachelors Degree.
Education must be accredited.
