Overview
The Metal Finisher is primarily responsible for grinding, filing, or sanding surfaces of metal items or parts.
Responsibilities
- Examines and feels surface of metal to detect defects such as dents, scratches, or breaks in metal.
- Removes dents, using hammer and dolly block, and fills uneven surface with molten solder.
- Smooths surface of item to specified finish, using handtools and powered tools.
- May polish metal surface, using powered polishing wheel or belt.
- Examines finished work pieces to verify conformance with specifications according to operator inspection sheet, quality control plans and / or customer notes using instruments such as gauges.
- Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follows prescribed safety regulations.
- Ensure compliance with corporate and plant safety standards.
- Other duties as assigned.
