340B Coordinator

Job Title

Purpose : Responsible for coordination and maintenance of Genesis Medical Centers 340B drug discounting program. Performs the daily operations and monitoring of the 340B drug purchasing program and serves as the primary contact for the 340B program with the Pharmacy Department and externally with the 340B vendors. Serves as the 340B subject expert including recertification, compliance, policies and procedures, operational issues and split billing software. Serves as the primary internal liaison to key stakeholders to help ensure appropriate utilization of the 340B program and adherence with all program requirements of HRSA and OPA. Reviews and monitors all points of service where 340B participation occurs to ensure policy and procedure compliance, covered entity eligibility, covered outpatient drug eligibility, and "covered patient" eligibility. Also serves as the coordinator for Craneware Pharmacy ChargeLink solutions to provide maximum pharmacy reimbursement and ensure all billing, regulatory, and OIG requirements for proper coding and billing of all medications.

Supervisory Responsibility : No Supervision : The job does not require the provision of guidance or supervision to others. There is no formal responsibility for directing others.

Materials Responsibility : High : Work requires a high degree of responsibility for material resources. Examples of resources could include large operating or capital budgets for a large functional area, major plants, facilities or properties, or other equivalent material assets. The employee has a large amount of control over these resources. The cost of errors might result in significant financial loss and affect overall corporate results. The difficulty, variety and depth of problems associated with these material resources is moderately complex.

POSITION SPECIFICATION

Education : High school graduation or equivalent

Field Of Study : N / A

Special Training : Experience in pharmacy purchasing or inventory management in hospital or clinic settings. Exceptional database and spreadsheet knowledge, proficient in math, pharmacy calculations, and use of Excel formulas. Proficient with EMR and pharmacy systems.

Training Preferred : BS in Accounting, Finance, Supply Chain or Hospital Administration. Current knowledge of state, federal and professional industry standards pertaining to pharmaceutical healthcare and the 340B program requirements.

Licensure / Registration : Dual registration with Iowa and Illinois as a Pharmacy Technician. Registration with the Iowa Board of Pharmacy Examiners within 30 days of employment as a Certified Pharmacy Technician or Technician Trainee. Registration with the Illinois Board of Pharmacy Examiners within 60 days of employment as a Certified Pharmacy Technician or Technician Trainee. A trainee must become a nationally certified pharmacy technician within 12 months of hire.
