The Office of Undergraduate Medical Education at the University of Arizona College of Medicine – Phoenix invites applicants to apply for a pivotal leadership role contributing to our clinical education mission. The Director, Clinical Curriculum provides strategic leadership for the design, delivery, and continuous improvement of the 3rd and 4th year medical student curriculum. This position leads the execution of core clerkships, the Longitudinal Integrated Clerkship, and Clinical Certificates of Distinction. The Director collaborates closely with the Associate Dean for Clinical Curriculum to ensure alignment with institutional goals, accreditation standards, and evolving models of medical education, including competency-based education and rural health initiatives. This position oversees operations that support student site placement, program development, and stakeholder engagement across clinical departments and affiliated health systems. The Director supervises a team of professional staff and works cross-functionally to implement curricular strategy, resolve issues, and meet accreditation and compliance expectations. This position may require in-state travel, evening work, or occasional weekend duties.

Duties & Responsibilities
- Oversee the strategic execution and continuous refinement of the 3rd- and 4th-year medical school curriculum, leading high-level troubleshooting related to curricular delivery, site placements, and institutional partnerships.
- Direct the development and implementation of the Longitudinal Integrated Clerkship and Clinical Certificates of Distinction, aligning initiatives with long-term educational goals.
- Collaborate with senior leadership, including the Associate Dean for Clinical Curriculum, to develop, shape and manage strategic initiatives in competency-based clinical education and rural health workforce development.
- Provide executive oversight across the clinical academic program lifecycle, from the design and launch of new courses to the evaluation and enhancement of existing offerings in alignment with College-wide priorities.
- Represent the college at a senior level during external site visits and strategic meetings with clinical partners, including hospital CMOs, CEOs, department chairs, division chiefs, site directors, preceptors, practice managers, and coordinators.
- Oversee strategic coordination and oversight of clinical site visits, proactively resolving placement challenges and ensuring alignment between site capacity and programmatic needs.
- Foster high-level collaboration with academic and clinical leaders, including course and clerkship directors, site directors, and academic affairs leadership, to ensure seamless delivery of the clinical curriculum.
- Drive cross-institutional collaboration by engaging with other departments and colleges on joint educational initiatives, including rural health and interprofessional education.
- Serve as a senior representative on institutional committees, advocating for the clinical education mission and contributing to broader strategic planning and policy development.
- Ensure institutional and programmatic compliance with University of Arizona, College of Medicine – Phoenix, and LCME / HLC accreditation standards through strategic monitoring and oversight.
- Oversee the evaluation and revision of internal policies, optimizing operational efficiency while upholding compliance with accreditation and institutional frameworks.
- Direct policy development initiatives and partner with senior leadership to produce high-quality accreditation documentation, reports, and self-studies.
- Oversee the development and execution of project timelines, documentation systems, and reporting protocols to support accreditation readiness, internal quality review, and curricular innovation.
- Provide strategic leadership in the recruitment, development, and oversight of clinical curriculum staff, including role assignment, performance management, and resolution of personnel matters.
- Design, implement, and continuously optimize cross-functional workflow procedures, ensuring operational alignment and efficiency across units.
- Direct the planning and execution of key curriculum-related events, including faculty development sessions, student orientations, retreats, and academic conferences.
- Cultivate a collaborative, high-performance team culture that prioritizes continuous improvement, accountability, and alignment with institutional values.
- Partner with unit leadership and Directors of Operations / Finance to develop, oversee, and manage complex unit budgets in alignment with institutional priorities.
- Provide high-level fiscal oversight of curriculum operations, ensuring compliance with university financial policies and the strategic allocation of resources.
- Direct and mentor staff on budget management, procurement protocols, and financial best practices, promoting accountability and operational integrity.
- Lead project tracking and data-informed decision-making, ensuring effective execution of strategic initiatives that advance the educational mission and College-wide goals.

Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience required.Five (5) years of related work experience, including 2 years of managerial experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.Preferred Qualifications
