Senior Associate Attorney – Private Wealth Services
Location : Boston, MA
Direct Counsel is seeking a Senior Associate to join a highly regarded national law firm’s Private Wealth Services Group in its Boston office. This position offers the opportunity to work on a broad range of complex estate, business succession, tax planning, and transactional matters—many involving high-net-worth clients and closely held businesses governed by New York law.
Key Responsibilities :
Advise on estate and business succession planning, tax strategy, and business transactions for high-net-worth individuals and closely held businesses.
Draft estate planning documents including various trusts (grantor, non-grantor, SLATs, ILITs, QDOTs, dynasty trusts), wills, powers of attorney, and healthcare directives.
Advise on U.S. tax issues for domestic and cross-border estate planning, expatriation, and asset protection for U.S. and foreign citizens.
Assist with administration of trusts, including review of fiduciary tax returns and drafting of related documents such as amendments, distribution agreements, and indemnifications.
Counsel clients on emerging issues such as cryptocurrency taxation within trusts.
Engage directly with clients and collaborate closely with partners and senior attorneys in the group.
Qualifications :
Juris Doctor degree required.
Must be admitted to practice law in New York and Connecticut .
Minimum of 3 years of experience in private wealth, estate, or tax planning.
Must have experience with :
U.S. income, gift, estate, and GST tax minimization strategies.
Cross-border estate and philanthropic planning.
Cryptocurrency taxation in estate and trust contexts.
Drafting and administering sophisticated estate planning structures and trusts.
Compensation : 390,000 / year.
Remote work permitted up to two days per week.
