Deputy Director Opportunity At TCEQ

Heres What Youll Be Doing :
- Manage OCE administrative functions, including directing staff activities related to providing support to the OCE Director, Area Directors, Division Directors, and other Director staff.
- Set policy for OCE related to administrative functions including correspondence, documentation, travel, training, work schedules, and implementation of agency policies and procedures.
- Ensure development and maintenance of standard operating procedures for OCE; internal SharePoint pages, external web pages including data sources, programs for the effective management of public information, legislative, media and other external requests.
- Direct staff activities related to organizational performance metrics.
- Serve as division contact to the Agency Records Management program concerning records retention, storage, access, and destruction.
- Manage agency homeland security responsibilities, including providing state-wide coordination, direction, and management of activities necessary to fulfill agency responsibilities as a member of the Texas Homeland Security Council.
- Notify and coordinate with those responsible for much of the states critical infrastructure, including producers and purchasers of drinking water for the public, high-risk dams, refineries, petrochemical facilities, wastewater-treatment facilities, and low-level radioactive waste disposal facilities.
- Manage the OCE budget functions including directing staff to appropriately control all aspects of budget development, implementation, and coordination with Office of Administrative Services.
- Provide budget updates to the OCE Director and makes recommendations for necessary changes throughout the budget cycle.
- Oversee the distribution of salary enhancement budgets and development of additional funding requests or exceptional item requests, as needed.
- Ensure OCE grant programs are managed effectively to ensure optimal use and distribution of funds.
Key Qualifications :
Experience with emergency or crisis management including preparedness, response, or recovery.Experience responding to public information requests, complaints, and inquiries from public officials, the regulated community, and the media.Experience evaluating and analyzing proposed legislation, representing TCEQ in the legislative process through meetings with elected officials or providing expert witness testimony, and coordinating implementation of legislation through the rulemaking process.Experience in rulemaking including implementation of legislation, response to petitions, or implementation of other federal or state requirements.Experience overseeing administrative functions and developing and implementing standard operating procedures for a section, division, or office.Qualifications : Required Education Experience :
Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major course work in a field relevant to assignment.OR Experience in the management of a business function, division, or department to include professional management experience where primary duties consists of planning organizing, controlling, and directing the work of an organization or formal subdivision, or team.OR Experience as a TCEQ division director.Transcript / College Hours or Course Work :

Work Schedule :
Standard business hours are M-F, 8 : 00 a.m. - 5 : 00 p.m. Individual and work group schedule determined by the TCEQ Headquarters.
