Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced ICU RN with a MO or compact RN license, critical care skills, and Epic experience for a Level I Trauma Center assignment.
Responsibilities
Work in a Medical and Surgical ICU setting at a short term acute care hospitalPatient ratio is 1 : 2 in the ICUPatient population includes respiratory failure, ARDS, cardiac / cardiac arrest, DKA, multi-organ failure, sepsis, stroke, and pre- and post-op surgical casesUnit manages pre- and post-cardiac, thoracic, abdominal surgeries, neuro-medicine, transplant, and end-of-life / organ donationUtilizes IV pumps / titration, CRRT, dialysis, ventilators / BiPAP, hemodynamic invasive monitoring, and defibrillatorsEpic EMR is used; Epic charting experience requiredNight shift position (4x12 hours, 19 : 00 - 7 : 30), with every other weekend requiredNo on-call requirementsFloat within ICU service line and to affiliate hospital ICUs as neededResponsibilities include comprehensive care and monitoring of critically ill adults, emergency response, and support for complex pre- and post-surgical patientsWorks in a Magnet and teaching hospital with Level I trauma designationNavy scrubs requiredMust complete modules and lab work prior to orientation, with facial hair policies in place for fit testingNo more than 7 days of requested time off allowed per 13 week contract, and no time off permitted during the first week of orientationAssignment duration is 13 or 26 weeks, with option for 36 or 48 hours per week upon requestAssignment may last up to 18 months, after which a 3 month break is required for standard travelersRequirements
Active MO RN license or multistate compact RN license requiredMinimum 2 years of recent ICU experience requiredCertifications required : BLS, ACLS, and NIHSSDemonstrated skill in management of dysrhythmias, multi-organ dysfunction, advanced monitoring, ventilator care, titrating IV and vasoactive drips, ABG interpretation, and infection preventionEpic EMR charting experience requiredNo first-time travelers acceptedCandidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facilityNo previous permanent employment within the health system in the past yearBenefits
