Schedule / Hours : Full-time, evening shift with 8 or 10-hour shifts, Monday to Friday, including on-call duty (primarily overnight) for approximately 5-8 slots, and 1-2 weekend call slots within an 8-week scheduling window. Call hours may adjust based on staffing needs, with a requirement to arrive within 30 minutes.
Major Responsibilities :
Create and maintain a clean, safe, and efficient environment for optimal patient care.Utilize aseptic techniques in preparing materials and equipment for surgical procedures, including setting up sterile fields and anticipating the Surgeons’ needs.Assist with various surgical procedures while maintaining basic knowledge of multiple types of operations.Ensure the operating room is disinfected, safe, and well-organized, including setting up equipment and returning items post-procedure.Function as a Second Assistant as necessary.Notify appropriate personnel of any equipment or supply issues.Transport patients and / or equipment with care and precision.Maintain specialty carts, ensuring equipment is functioning and sterile.Demonstrate knowledge of age-specific patient care, ensuring the delivery of appropriate services.Qualifications :
Licensure / Certification : Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers within 6 months of hire.Education : Completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program.Experience : No prior experience is required.Skills & Abilities :
Understanding of aseptic techniques and operating room procedures.Familiarity with operating room equipment.Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.Basic computer skills.Physical Requirements :
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-stress environment.Physical tasks include lifting up to 50 lbs. from the floor, pushing / pulling with 30 lbs. of force, and performing sliding transfers with assistance.May be exposed to mechanical, electrical, chemical, radiation hazards, and blood / bodily fluids.Must have functional sight and hearing, and be able to wear PPE including masks and goggles.This job description outlines general responsibilities and is not exhaustive.
