- Responsible for representing American’s corporate interests, as they relate to obtaining appropriate facilities for American’s operations, through negotiations with airports, other airlines’ properties representatives, IATA, commercial landlords, and industry consultants.
What you'll do
Negotiate and manage contracts, leases, subleases, use and operating agreements with airports and other commercial landlordsOwn a portfolio of leases and the associated financial commitments, which secure American’s footprint at airports and supporting facilities.Represent American’s interests throughout the process of negotiating airport leases. Negotiations include defining the rate-making methodology associated with rents, charges and landing fees; defining asset use requirements, capital improvement plans and approval methodology, among others, and understanding airport operating budgets, passenger facility charges, and other financing leversWork in collaboration with multiple internal stakeholders, including Network Planning, Finance, Operations, Customer Experience, Legal, Tech Ops, among others, to ensure leases meet American’s operational, financial and commercial requirementsCoordinates internal approvals of leases and facility projectsCoordinate space requirements between user departments and landlords in accordance with corporate standardsAnalyze and model financial impacts of space and rate changes on overall lease economicsRepresent company on Airline-Airport Affairs Committees in matters such as annual operating and capital budgets, rates and charges, lease and use agreement terms, airport master plans, etc.Anticipate changes in user charges at airports and work diligently to mitigate cost pressuresIdentify risks and opportunities, develop recommendations, and implement leasehold and airport affairs initiativesParticipates in new station start-ups, ensuring that Day 1 property and facility needs are metAll you'll need for success
Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience
Bachelor’s degree in relevant field or equivalent experience / trainingSkills, Licenses & Certifications
Knowledge of the administration and negotiation of lease agreements, and specifically Airport-Airline Use and Lease AgreementsAbility to be assertive while maintaining diplomacy and political awarenessKnowledge of Microsoft Office Software (e.g., Word, Outlook, PowerPoint); advanced MS Excel experienceAbility to manage multiple projects simultaneously, shift priorities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment, while exercising sound judgment to make decisionsAbility to build strong working relationship with internal and external groupsAbility to coordinate and manage large cross functional projects with all levels of managementMust be able to work independently while drive results with little oversightWilling and able to travelAbility to pass a background reference check and criminal fingerprint checkWhat you'll get
