Description

DOT Lighting Bucket Operator

Performs work from aerial devices and ladders to install and maintain streetlights and related equipment. Working hours is typically a 10-hour day.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities :

  • Operates various tools for the work (manual digging devices, wrenches, hammers, come-alongs, and handline etc.).
  • Clears work area and maintains safe jobsite conditions and assists with work and material assembling from the ground
  • Excavates to assist in the installation of structures or cable as required by contract specification.
  • Will have contact with public and private property owners to communicate work to be performed.
  • Exposed to traffic and may be required to have training on traffic flagging.
  • All other duties as required or requested by Supervisors.

    • Minimum Qualifications :

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Able to :

    • meet and maintain weight restrictions for bucket truck as identified by truck manufacturer.

  • work long hours and overtime, emergencies, weekends, etc. Subject to call out work.
  • work with hands above head for extended periods of time.
  • work efficiently and effectively while working at heights.
  • safely enter and exit the aerial device and rear-end of the bucket and derrick trucks

    • Education & Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent preferred.

    • Pre-Screen

  • Upon offer, employees may be required to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen, background, and / or MVR check.

    • License & Certifications :

  • Valid class "B" commercial driver's license (CDL) required.
  • Ability to pass DOT physical & obtain DOT medical card required.

    • Travel Requirements :

  • Must be willing to travel out of town / state for regular / emergency storm work.

    • Physical Requirements :

  • RARE : (less than 10%) : Sitting, Kneeling, Crawling, Color Vision, Climbing Stairs
  • OCCASIONAL : (up to 33%) : Stooping, Squatting, Climbing On / Off Truck, Climbing Ladders, Pushing, Reading, Lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • FREQUENT : (up to 66%) : Carrying, Pulling, Balancing, body-twisting, Hearing / Speech Range, Lifting, Lifting up to 10 lbs., Manual Dexterity, Speaking Clearly, Walking
  • CONTINUOUS : (up to 100%) : Standing, Sense of Touch, Gripping, Seeing , Reaching, range-of-motion, Depth Perception, Lifting over 10 lbs. to 50 lbs., Climbing.
