Civil Service Title : (Civil Service Title : Licensed Practical Nurse)

Minimum Requirements :

Possession of a valid New York State Registered Professional Nursing (RN) license or valid New York State Licensed Professional Nursing (LPN) license.

Desired Qualifications :

Working knowledge of practical nursing techniques;

Ability to work with elementary, middle and / or high school students, staff and parents;

Strong interpersonal skills;

Good judgment;

Ability to accurately record and report health / medical information;

Ability to understand and carry out detailed oral and written instructions;

Must have the ability to travel;

Daily attendance is expected.

Position Summary / Responsibilities :

Performs medical and / or emergency treatments of injuries and illness of students and staff as required; Dispenses

medications as needed;

May attend to physical needs such as toileting, feeding, and lifting;

Assists the School RN with daily triage of students with chronic and minor health concerns and communicates health

concerns to parents as needed;

• Maintains an awareness of student status recognizing and reporting adverse signs; Communicates and collaborates with

members of the health care team;

District Medical Director;

Participates in departmental and interdisciplinary committees as assigned;

Maintains professional competence through participation in continuing education and other appropriate learning

experiences;

Records information on student health records, accident reports and sports eligibility forms;

Assists with inventory of supplies;

Extra hours may be required;

Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
