Summary
The role of the Software Engineer is to understand the architecture and code structure of a multi-tiered supply chain software application and perform small to medium size development projects within the framework of the existing code. The ability to be thorough in making sure all code changes meet our quality standards and the needs of our customers is key.
The software engineer will participate in internal test activities as well as applying the system in the client’s environment including full integration with major material handling systems. They will also participate in setup and configuration of systems hardware, operating system, and database environments including Microsoft and Unix operating systems and MS SQL Server and Oracle databases.
Required Competencies
1. Develop and unit test software based on detailed functional specifications on their own as well as under direction from senior staff members
2. Application and technical configuration
3. Integrated system testing
4. Hardware and 3rd party software configuration and set-up
5. Preparation of technical and operational documentation
6. On-site commissioning and start-up support
7. Maintaining systems and software once they are up and running
8. Work effectively in a team environment, interacting with various internal departments and staff
9. Good written and verbal communication with warehouse workers, customers, employees, managers, project manager, …
10. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists and interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
Travel and Work Requirements
1. Ability to travel up to 30% per year
2. Some night and weekend work may be required to complete certain duties
