Class B Lineman - Overhead
The Class B Lineman - Overhead is a semi-skilled position in the construction, maintenance, and repair of electrical overhead distribution systems. This position works at various locations and may also be required to travel to another state depending on customer demands. Essential functions include working safely while performing new construction, maintenance, or repair work of energized and de-energized overhead work. This includes stringing overhead wire, setting poles and anchors, installing transformers, lightning arrestors, cutouts, crossarms, insulators, switches, and switchgear. Additionally, the role involves troubleshooting in primary and secondary systems, replacing fuses in transformers, and clearing faulted circuits and systems. Frequent work with energized high voltage systems requires skill and care to protect the lives of themselves and others. The position also involves maintaining company vehicles, equipment, and tools in good working order and performing all related work as required to complete the job. The candidate must be able to perform rigorous physical labor, identify primary and secondary voltage on a circuit, and understand grounding procedures, load buster tools, and equipment setup. The role requires the ability to work at heights and / or confined spaces, properly install and remove PPE and cover up, check voltage on transformers, tie in a primary conductor, climb different types of structures, and phase out a line using phasing sticks. The candidate must also be able to obtain a one shot on a recloser, conduct a pre-job or tailgate briefing, safely perform a reconductoring job, and work live high voltage distribution power lines. The position requires willingness to glove / work live high voltage distribution power lines, safely install and remove mechanical jumpers, work outside frequently in inclement weather, lift in excess of 50 lbs, inspect rubber goods and PPE, and work overtime and outside normal work schedules including weekends, holidays, and overtime as required.
Pending requirements include a 5-year minimum of recent field experience, ability to read and communicate effectively in English, obtain a Commercial Driver's License permit within 60 days of employment, travel long distances on short notice, work for extended periods in various locations, lift in excess of 50 lbs, inspect rubber goods and PPE, and work overtime and outside normal work schedules including weekends, holidays, and overtime as required.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to fingers, handle, and feel; and reach with hands and arms. Work environment includes exposure to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration, and a variety of extreme conditions at construction job sites. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. This position is performed in outside weather conditions.
