The Summer Student role is an entry level position on the Security Operations team. This position is responsible for helping support day-to-day cybersecurity operations and learning from a team that supports security initiatives across the South West Local Delivery Group (LDG) and it?s Healthcare Service Providers (HSPs).

This position offers a great opportunity to learn and participate in incident response (triage, investigate, respond, contain and document), log analysis, vulnerability management, security tool development / tuning and threat hunting. This position will interface with experienced LDG, HSP, and MSSP technical resources when required.

The Summer Student duties include but are not limited to the following :

• Participate in incident detection, analysis, response, containment, and post incident documentation.
• Perform log analysis, computer forensics, and proactive threat hunting.
• Develop, test, and tune custom detections and use cases / alerts.
• Utilize, administer, and support LDG security-related platforms and technologies.
• Help HSPs onboard their assets to LDG multiple security-related platforms.
• Research and keep up to date on current and emerging threats / vulnerabilities.
• Assess, communicate, and help prioritize the risks associated with vulnerabilities / threats found at HSP sites.
• Leverage automation and orchestration solutions to automate repetitive tasks.
