Structural Engineer Civil Engineering

Responsibilities :

  • Perform and review structural design calculations, plans, specifications, cost estimates, and reports
  • Conduct bridge inspections, load ratings, and structural analyses (linear and non-linear)
  • Complete hydrologic and hydraulic analyses for bridges and box culverts
  • Ensure compliance with quality standards through QA / QC reviews
  • Communicate and coordinate with clients, contractors, engineers, and sub-consultants
  • Participate in project planning, cost development, scheduling, and public involvement efforts
  • Act as Project Engineer or Project Manager depending on experience
  • Contribute to project interviews and technical presentations as needed
  • Requirements :

  • Licensed Structural Engineer in the State of Illinois
  • Design experience with IDOT standards for Illinois-based structural projects
  • Licensed Professional Engineer in Illinois, or the ability to obtain one
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited institution
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
  • Preferred Qualifications :

  • NBIS Team Lead certification or ability to earn it for bridge inspection work
  • Physical Requirements :

  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions for extended periods
  • Physically able to sit, walk, reach, crouch, bend, or stand on uneven surfaces
  • Able to lift and carry at least 30 lbs.
  • Frequent use of hands, fingers, and arms
  • Prolonged screen exposure and reading
