GENERAL SUMMARY :
Performs manual manufacturing duties for Henry Ford OptimEyes finishing line. Follows process instructions for producing finished eyeglasses.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
Trace frames. Mounts lenses in basic mental, semi-rimless, and plastic frames
Moves job trays from one area on the line to another as required
Places leap pads on finishing blocks. Operates semi-automatic finish blocker
May be required to follow the process for tinting lenses
Marks progressive lenses on witness engravings
May operate edgers to include clearing errors
Manually block lenses for surfacing line and deblock lenses from surfacing line
Performs basic eyeglass repair in include fixing missing or broken screws and eye
wires and resizing large lenses,
May operate an arc lamp to identify cosmetic defects
May assemble and repair drill mount eyewear.
May perform advanced repair of frames to include replacement or shortening of
temple ends, advanced setting adjustments and calibration of finishing equipment
Performs proper use of lensometers
Exactly follows process instructions whether written or verbal
Adheres to 6S principles at all times
Performs other duties as instructed by management
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE REQUIRED :
High School diploma or G.E.D. required.
Two years of experience in an Optical lab preferred.
Requires basic computer skills, to include reading and executing machine commands on screens.
Requires dexterity to handle small tools and parts (such as screwdrivers and frame screws).
Requires the ability to understand verbal and / or written instructions.
Must have good communication skills.
Requires the ability to work independently as needed.
Can be trained to perform the job responsibilities.
CERTIFICATIONS / LICENSURES REQUIRED :
Must meet or exceed core customer service responsibilities, standards and behaviors as
outlined in the Henry Ford Health Customer Service Policy
Must practice the customer skills as provided through on-going training and in-services.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS / WORKING CONDITIONS :
Requires the ability to stand, bend, and lift up to 20 lbs. for an entire shift
Requires the ability to follow process instructions
Requires dexterity to handle small tools and parts (such as screwdrivers and frame screws)
