Summary : The primary duty of the bus para is to assist students during their bus route.

- Maintains consistent and punctual attendance. Aides are expected to report to Transportation and clock in 10 minutes prior to leave time.
- Assist students from the door to their seat, wheelchair bracket or special equipment, and secure them as applicable before the driver continues.
- Cooperate with the driver to maintain the safety equipment to include harnesses, straps, tie-downs, etc. Maintain all equipment, stored and organized for safe and efficient use.
- Be seated in the mid-to-back of the bus, so that the students are visible and communication with the driver can be heard.
- Actively supervise all students and address any discipline. Interact with students in a positive, professional, and caring manner.
- Report to the driver if a student is brought to the bus in any unsanitary condition either from home or school.
- Be familiar with the driver's records to help assist substitute drivers with the schedule and route.
- If any unsafe incident occurs on the bus, you are required to fill out an incident report.
- Assist the driver with Railroad crossing safety especially where line of sight is hindered.
- Conduct reports are to be made if the student is having unusual behavior. Communicate with the director for clarification and report concerns.
- Sanitize the bus after each route. This includes all seats, special equipment and handrails.
- Ride other routes as needed.
- Be aware of safety procedures.
- Satisfy all guidelines contained within the department handbook.
